Gary joined our staff in January 2023 following a brief retirement from the shipbuilding industry.  He has served as an elder at CCC for approximately 20 years, is a member of our missions committee and has co-led numerous mission teams to Honduras.  Gary holds a Bachelor of Architecture (Virginia Tech) and a Master of Divinity (Columbia International University).

Gary was married 40 years to his college sweetheart Carol prior to her passing in 2021.  Gary enjoys the blessing of their 7 adult children and a growing number of beautiful grandchildren.  Prior to joining the CCC family in 2001, the Lafferty’s ministered for 9 years with Alliance Bible Church in Charlottesville, where Gary was pastor.  Early in their marriage, Gary and Carol spent 2 years serving and traveling onboard an international missions ship (MV Logos).  That proved to be a pivotal season in which God opened their eyes and hearts to exciting new worlds of ministry opportunities and possibilities.

In addition to loving on his large family here in the US, Gary enjoys traveling to Honduras to minister along side his extended family.  In his spare time, Gary enjoys following a variety of sports (primarily his Hokies), traveling, chilling with friends, and catching that elusive quiet afternoon alone to recharge.
