re:Spirit – Romans 8:26-27

From Series: "re:Spirit"

"The spiritual tension of our lives: We hear good news… and then we forget. We respond with joy… and then daily concerns flood over us. We trust God, but then we choose to sin. We experience power and love and courage… and then the heartache of the world seems to out-shout the testimony of truth. We have present sufferings… and forever promises. Back and forth we go, a fish tank on the bed of a pick-up. Yet the Word of our God endures forever. It speaks a reassuring hope. And by the Spirit we remember who we are, and who God is. We are replenished with this living, waiting, suffering, conquering hope. Romans 8 restores us with this rich, personal truth. “There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.” We return to the lover of our souls and press on to believe because, “the Spirit helps us in our weakness, “God is for us,” and “nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God.” We’ll spend this Spring reminding ourselves that in Christ our lives are secure, not sloshing about. In this secure place, by the Spirit, we hear God call out to us – ‘swim out further, look up to the horizon of eternity, receive the my love.’
