Practicing the Gospel: Hope Renewed

Summary: The end of Isaiah undermines our human efforts to “fly” and teaches us how soar on eagle’s wings

From Series: "Practicing the Gospel"

xcelling at anything takes practice. Even for the most naturally gifted, growth requires practice. We rarely learn something once and then do it well without… time and practice. Likewise, disciples of Jesus – as learners, as practitioners – are those who, over a lifetime, practice the gospel. What is the gospel? God has given us reconciliation with Him and awakened us to the reality of His presence by His Spirit. In view of this mercy – that He has saved us through Jesus Christ – we continue to magnify Him in our whole lives by putting the gospel into practice. As we grow, the gospel makes a difference in our frame of mind, our choices, our relationships and in our role in the wider community. In Romans 12-13, Paul teaches the Roman church how to practice the gospel. He recognizes that it requires holistic transformation. From this vantage point, he urges the practice of Jesus’ way over a broad variety of topics and situations. In this series, we will not only hear truth about what practicing the gospel looks like, but also be encouraged to put it into practice!
