As God regenerates us, his life streams into us and brings forth what is new. As God regenerates us, we are changed. And since God is love, this change comes with love – for us and through us.
When the Apostle John writes “the LIFE appeared” (1 Jn 1:2), he speaks of God sending his Son with the fullest, most radiant picture of love we can imagine. This is love that saves us eternally, and also sends us here and now into the world as people being renewed.
As we, Christ Community, seek to serve together and ask God to strengthen our capacities for sending, we are looking to God’s Word in 1 John to shape us along the way. This letter has soaring and rich themes (Love! Light! Life!) yet remains consistently grounded in the reality of our human frailties and how love works itself out person to person.
