Isaiah 66:1-2

From Series: "God's Way Forward"

We all have times when we long for something new: a new start, a new way forward, a new hope. Often, our own sin has put us in this position; at other times, the world’s wickedness increases our longing for God’s justice and righteousness. But whatever the reason, we know the human longing – God, do something new here! Make a way forward!! We have good news: God has a way forward no matter what we face. Through his power, his grace and his wisdom, we are drawn into his eternal plans. Our future is, ultimately, glorious. These are His precious promises to us. We see them throughout the Scripture. Specifically for this series, the final chapters of Isaiah’s prophecy take us to a time when God was promising his people a new thing, a new way forward. In doing so, Isaiah 56-66 point beyond themselves, with beauty and majesty and breathtaking depth, to the new work of Christ and the ultimately new existence in God’s forever Kingdom. In our day and time – in each of our lives – may we hear afresh: God is making a way forward! He’s preparing his people for glory, for the fulfillment of their purpose and his plans.
