‘Tis the Season: An Appointed Time (Galatians 4:1-7)
From Series: "‘Tis the Season"
Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. Football season, basketball season, soccer and baseball season. Seasons of life, seasons of growth. Advent and Lent. Off and on. We’re awash with seasons. Christmas may be the most blatant ‘season’ of all in our seasonal culture. It’s in our face, unavoidable. I would say “jarring” and yet its beloved by most. All- encompassing for sure. Tis the Season. But for what purpose? Is this only for feasting, giving, celebrating? These are all worthwhile in their time and place. But we are those who consider FIRST the One who designs all the true seasons of life. Scripture teaches us that our God sets the seasons. According to HIS will and for HIS glory. Our God sent His Son at just the right time. In season. And His Word also tells us that he will bring all things to an end, in the fullness of time. But between those bookends, do we know and follow the God of seasons? Are we those who discern our times, pay attention to our seasons, and serve God wholeheartedly in light of them? Can we learn to trust God in and for our seasons? What season does the Lord have you in? And what are you, are we, going to do about it?
