Geoffrey Maurer
Pastor of Vision and Equipping
When Geoffrey came to the University of Virginia he got more than he expected: an incredible wife Kelly, the sweet and renewing experience of discipleship, and a call to vocational ministry. Before answering the call to Christ Community in 2011, Geoffrey served two years in campus ministry, studied three years at seminary (Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary), led for six years as dean, teacher, coach and chaplain at two private Christian schools. While with CCC, he has helped to found e4Partnership and received his Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary.
Geoff and Kelly love Charlottesville and are delighted and honored to be raising their three children in the city. They love the Church, including this church, and long for Jesus’ name to be exalted above all.

Tom White

He has had an abiding love for children and youth, one that God kept kindled through his time in education, sales, real estate, and coaching. Now God is using Tom’s diverse background and work experience in ways that help him love our community well in his current role. Tom is married to Amy, his high school sweetheart, and they have three children and two grandchild. He relaxes with humor, cooking, sports, and people (and people, and people).

Chris Matthews
Worship Director
When Chris and his wife Anna felt the call from the Lord to uproot their lives from native South Africa and settle in Charlottesville, Virginia, they stepped into more than a new beginning—they embraced a deeper journey of faith and mission.
In South Africa, Chris poured over 20 years into worship ministry, eventually serving as a key worship leader at Hatfield Christian Church, guiding a vibrant and diverse congregation of over 2,000 people with more than 50 nations represented.
Since age 15, Chris has played bass, guitar, keyboard, and vocals in worship. As an avid songwriter, he has composed hundreds of songs and has served worship leaders and teams of multiple generations and backgrounds as a Music Director. He draws on his music and ministry experience, including mentoring youth in a skillful way to teach and guide others.
After graduating from the Worship Academy in 2010, Chris began teaching there, shaping lives through worship, and later became a course facilitator, sharing his response to the revelation of who God is to hundreds of students from various backgrounds. God has provided him with many purposeful travels to connect with and equip students around the world, sharing his passion and zeal for God and his Kingdom with fellow worshipers.
Now in Charlottesville, Chris and Anna, with their two boys, live by faith, delighting in God’s ever unfolding purpose. They treasure their new community, eager to see Jesus’ name exalted as they serve and flourish in this city they’re privileged to call home.
