Sabbatical Testimony & What are we Running to?

Exploring the Kingdom

Summary: In our frenetic lives, we often find ourselves running all-over-the-place, but where are we really running to? As we witness the disciples running to the tomb, we’ll explore where it is God really wants us to run.

From Series: "Exploring the Kingdom"

If we are becoming a diverse family of communities who thrive in the Holy Spirit and proclaim God’s Kingdom, we need to know what this Kingdom is and what it’s like! Let’s explore the Kingdom of God together. If we were to enter in, walk about and look around: What would we notice? What is present? Who is present? What is absent? What are the sounds, the climate? What are the qualities and values; what is celebrated? What are the rhythms? In January we defined the Kingdom of God broadly as, “the space where Jesus dwells and reigns.” This series is an exploration into the richness of this spiritual (and physical) reality. When Jesus taught and proclaimed the Kingdom, what did He have in mind? What are the ongoing implications, for us and for the world? Though it is the centerpiece of Jesus’ teachings, the Kingdom comes to us with mysterious representative of the overlapping of the ages. How is the world different because of God’s inbreaking kingdom? What is different now, and what belongs to the future? We will explore these questions while asking God to prepare us to live differently as citizens of His eternal kingdom. These biblical realities shape and direct the life of the church. May the Word of God continue to produce fruit in our lives as we seek to glorify God through Christ in all things.
